“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” – GALATIANS 6:9-10 (NLT)
Doing the right thing is the right thing to do. It is not always the easiest thing to do. Sometimes we may be uncomfortable or flat out don’t want to, but to be like Jesus, we often have to do things out of our comfort zone. Sometimes that may be showing grace when we don’t want to, it may be speaking up when you disagree or it may mean being quiet when you don’t want to. God will guide you as you strive to do the right thing.
Join us Sunday for a special Father’s Day message from Pastor Doug titled “DAD’S RULE!” We will have donuts for dads before church and hot dogs after church for the dads that can attend in person. If you plan to join us in person you can get your reservations and updated standards for attendance here. We want to remind you we understand this isn’t the easiest way to attend church, but we are striving to keep our church family safe. Social distancing isn’t a natural part of coming to church, however, until we know that it is safe, we will continue to use our standards to keep everyone safe. Thank you for cooperating and understanding. We hope that this will soon be a memory in our past that God helped us through, until then we must use these practices. As always we continue to offer our livestream options here on our website and also on Facebook.
Speaking of returning to church, we are happy to announce that we have dates for Kids and Youth to return to LHC. Starting Wednesday, June 24th our Youth will begin meeting in person at church. The youth will follow the same standards as our church. We are excited about our Kids Ministry to return as well. The LHCkids will be returning in phases. Starting Sunday, July 5th our children grades 1st-5th will have a class available. We will each week open a new age group. The leadership has worked diligently to develop a thorough game plan to keep everyone safe. The full standards and phased rollout will be posted next week on our website. We will also continue detailed cleaning before and after each service. Stay tuned for more updates.
Yesterday, Wednesday, June 17th, we partnered with Northwest Indiana Food Bank and the National Guard and distributed food to families in Lake County. Our church continues to be a beacon of hope during this difficult season. Thank you to Mo Deter and her team for their continued efforts at being a blessing.
Sunday, July 5th is going to be our biggest Independence Day Celebration ever. We are encouraging our church family to come back to church that morning at 10:30 am. If you haven’t come back to church yet, plan to that day. (As long as you are not sick or at risk) That night we will celebrate with food, fun, and fireworks. Living Hope Church will be providing food by MISSION BBQ for FREE! We have also invited the 20th Century Missionary Baptist Church in Gary to join us that evening as we celebrate freedom. We will receive donations that evening in place of selling food to help paint their church building. Tailgating begins at 6:30 pm and Fireworks start at 9 pm. We are so excited to celebrate our freedom and enjoy this great night as the body of Christ.
