The Gospel of John pt. 13 - Rick Cochran

This sermon uses the wedding at Cana in John 2 as a prophetic picture of God’s redemptive  plan, showing how the traditions of a first-century Galilean Jewish wedding mirror Christ’s  relationship with the Church. The message explains that just as a Jewish bridegroom was sent  by his father at the appointed time to establish a covenant, pay a bride price, and prepare a  place for his bride, God sent Jesus to redeem humanity through His sacrifice and prepare  eternity for believers. The Church is portrayed as the Bride of Christ, currently living in a season  of sanctification and preparation while awaiting His return, just as a betrothed bride prepared  herself for her groom. The sermon emphasizes readiness, holiness, and hopeful expectation,  reminding believers that although no one knows when Christ will return, His coming will be  announced like the trumpet call at a wedding procession and will culminate in the joyful  “marriage supper of the Lamb” described in Revelation, where God’s people will finally be united  with Him forever.
